As is well known in the Parish, residents have suffered from both low water pressure as well as no water at all, on a number of occasions due to the water main that feeds the Parish suffering numerous burst pipes since 2007.
The water main originates from the water tower located at the top of Sunderland Hill in Ravensden, runs through Bolnhurst into Keysoe then into Pertenhall and was laid in 1966.
Contact has been maintained with Anglian Water by Bolnhurst & Keysoe Parish Council on a regular basis in an attempt to secure a long term solution to what appears to be ever increasing incidents of burst pipes.
I am pleased to be able to advise that Anglian Water will be taking action that it is believed will significantly improve the reliability of the water supply into the Parish.
The initial action will take place around October 2021 when approximately 500 meters of pipe leading from the water tower in the direction of Bolnhurst will be replaced by Blue Medium Density Polyethylene Pipe.
This will be followed by extensive works that will be undertaken in the financial year 2022 – commencing sometime after 6th April 2022 – when the water main running from a point near Apple Trees, Kimbolton Road, Bolnhurst to the junction of Church Road with the B660 in Keysoe, will have the existing water main replaced with Blue Medium Density Polyethylene Pipe.
The water main that feeds properties in Keysoe Row West and Church Road will also be replaced by Blue Medium Density Polyethylene Pipe as part of the programme.
It is understood that this programme of works will bring short term pain over a number of months as excavation and pipe replacement is undertaken, but will bring long term gain as the integrity of the water main feeding the Parish will see significant improvement.
It is the intention of both the Parish Council and Anglian Water that a meeting open to residents will be held towards the end of 2021, at which time representatives of Anglian Water will be present to explain the programme of works and respond to questions. Details of this meeting will be advised in due course.”
