The Kings Coronation

 

 

 

 

 

Day 1 of the King’s Coronation successfully concluded – despite the somewhat inclement weather.
Thanks are due to Sarah Brooks who along with a small committee put together the various events taking place over the Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Saturday started with screening of the Coronation in Keysoe Village Hall that was adorned with bunting put up by members of the WI.
Mike Storey coordinated the “big screen” to show the Coronation – accompanied by the tremendous sound system which, given the weather, was probably better than being in The Mall.
Thanks to the Village Hall Committee for sponsoring the event and to the Parish Council for the “fizz” for the loyal toast.
The evening concluded with the lighting of the Beacon in Church Road which had been loaded by John Maddison. Despite the rain during the day, some 60 stalwarts braved the elements and enjoyed the company of friends and neighbours whilst John persuaded the Beacon to successfully burn. Thanks to all the Maddison family for making the Beacon ceremony a success.

 

 

 

Day 2 of the King’s Coronation celebration continued in the Parish of Bolnhurst & Keysoe with a dramatic change in the weather – sun and around 19C.
Keysoe WI generously hosted the Cream Tea in Keysoe Village Hall which was exceptionally well attended – as always. Photos of this event have already been posted on Facebook.
Bolnhurst ran a Community event – hosted by The Plough, Bolnhurst that was attended by 88 persons. A nominal charge made with all income being donated to The Princes Charity. Grateful thanks to Jayne, Martin and Michael of The Plough for their generosity and superb bowl food that they provided.
Everyone that attended brought a desert that was thoroughly enjoyed by all – clearly the exercise that will be undertaken tomorrow when litter picking takes place in the Parish will be very necessary!

The evening concluded with the screening of the Coronation Concert in Keysoe Village Hall.
Day 3 of the celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III were completed with the Parish Cleanup.
Grateful thanks to Sarah Brooks for masterminding the arrangements and overseeing the event in Keysoe and to Jacqui Stone who oversaw the Bolnhurst team.
In addition thanks are due to The Village Show at Keysoe for providing sustenance in the form of Bacon Butties.
Thanks are due to ALL persons that braved the somewhat disappointing weather and traipsed the “highways” collecting a phenomenal assortment of discarded items – varying from numerous beer cans, parts of vehicles and a car tyre to broken pallets, discarded fence posts and a Christmas Tree in addition to massive amounts of paper and PET bottles.
The camaraderie seen in the Parish throughout the 3 days of the celebrations shows that Bolnhurst & Keysoe IS THE PLACE TO LIVE
